STATETROOPER: 'The Calling' Album Available As A Digital Download
July 6, 2005STATETROOPER, the reunited British hard rock outfit fronted by former MSG (MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP) singer Gary Barden, have announced the release of their latest album, "The Calling", as a paid digital download via their official web site. The band are using a new, legal P2P file-sharing system called Weed to allow Internet sales of the album. In essence, the way the system works is that fans can download the track from the web site (www.statetrooper.co.uk) and then are able to listen to the track three times before deciding to buy. If the buyer sends their purchased file to someone else, who then buys the track, the person who originally sent it to them will receive a commission on the sale. And so on … every time someone sends a track to a friend, and the friend buys it, they receive a commission. Weed is even giving new users to the system a start up voucher for $5. Fans can burn the album onto CD as well as give the whole album as a data CD rather than copy illegally.
Commented Barden: "It's important to embrace new technology and with this system, we get the chance to give something back to the fans that have supported us over the years."
STATETROOPER will be adding new and exclusive tracks for download very soon.
